Udu Kingdom Set for Grand Celebration as Ovie Marks First Coronation Anniversary

The people of Udu Kingdom are set to celebrate the first coronation anniversary of His Royal Majesty, Engr. Michael O. Orugbo, the Okporua 1 and Ovie of Udu Kingdom in a grand ceremony aimed at promoting unity, cultural heritage and development within the kingdom.

The anniversary celebration, themed “A Celebration of Unity, Heritage and Development,” will feature a series of activities scheduled for June 6 and 7, 2026.

According to the programme released by the palace, the major event will hold on Saturday, June 6, with the official first coronation anniversary celebration alongside a N1 billion fundraising ceremony for the development of the Udu Palace. The event is expected to commence by 10:00am and will attract traditional rulers, political leaders, captains of industry, sons and daughters of Udu Kingdom, as well as well-wishers from across the country.

The celebration will continue on Sunday, June 7, with a thanksgiving service at God’s Kingdom Mission near Udu Bridge in Udu by 9:00am.

Organisers described the anniversary as a moment of reflection, appreciation and renewed commitment to the peace, unity and progress of the kingdom under the leadership of the monarch.

The event carries the message: “One Kingdom, One People, One Purpose,” while encouraging collective participation in building a stronger and more prosperous Udu Kingdom.

Residents and invited guests have been urged to attend and celebrate with the revered monarch as the kingdom marks a significant milestone in its traditional history.
